2024 was a standout year for MRMC, defined by exciting product launches, prestigious awards, and a whirlwind of trade shows. In this special blog post, we look back at the highlights and share a message from our CEO, Assaff Rawner, to celebrate an incredible year of accomplishments.
End Of Year Message From The CEO
As another year draws to a close, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what an incredible journey it’s been, despite the challenges faced by the industry as a whole.
A milestone that is very personal to me has been the release of the Super Milo. As many of you know, I had the privilege of working on the original Milo in the ’90s, and watching its evolution into something even more powerful has been both humbling and incredibly rewarding. With our team’s hard work and years of dedication, we’ve created a new gold standard in motion control, and I can’t wait to see where it takes the industry.
Equally exciting has been the progress in our Broadcast division. The launch of the StudioBot LT at IBC this year marked a major step forward, and I’m eager to see how it shapes the broadcast field in 2025. Additionally, our robotics being used for remote production at the Summer Games in Paris was a great honour that highlighted the meaningful impact our technology can have on a global stage.
But beyond the products, what has truly made this year unforgettable is the people—from our talented team to our inspiring customers, partners, and community. Winning the King’s Award for Enterprise this year is a testament to everyone’s contributions, and we couldn’t have achieved it without the incredible people who work alongside us.
Kings Award For Enterprise
This spring, we were honoured with the King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade 2024, and just last week, the Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey, Michael More-Molyneux, formally presented it to our CEO, Assaff Rawner. This marks the second time we’ve received this prestigious recognition, celebrating British businesses excelling in innovation, sustainability, and global impact. Now in its 58th year, the King’s Award remains the highest honour for UK businesses, and we’re proud to carry its emblem for the next five years.
Super Milo Launch
One of our greatest achievements this decade was unveiling the Super Milo at our exclusive launch party in Amsterdam. As our most powerful motion control system to date, the Super Milo was designed from the ground up to enhance the award-winning Milo, delivering increased speed, acceleration, reach, and stability. With up to 4 times faster maximum acceleration and an impressive 6.1-meter reach, the Super Milo is a true marvel of engineering. We’re excited to see the visionary projects it will power in the near future.
StudioBot LT Release
This year, we launched the StudioBot LT, MRMC’s most compact and versatile robotic arm that captures every angle with unrivalled motion capabilities and ultimate precision at IBC 2024. With flexible height options for multiple shot types and the ability to support a heavy payload, it’s ideal for studio box or cine-style cameras and studio or cine lenses. ITN was the first production company to deploy the StudioBot LT, as part of ITV’s overnight general election programme. We look forward to more exciting projects captured using the StudioBot LT next year!
Cinebot Max Unveiled
Just when it seemed the Cinebot Mini had shown us everything, we surprised everyone at the start of the year with the unveiling of the Cinebot Max — a larger alternative offering increased reach and payload. With the release of the Max, we completed the Cinebot Range: a new lineup of robots focused on user-friendliness, accessibility, and portable motion control. Cinebot Minis and Maxes are now everywhere, powering tons of innovative projects. We can only imagine how many more use cases we’ll be seeing next year.
MrMoco Rentals 2024 Highlights
Our MrMoco Rentals team has been working harder than ever, overcoming the challenges the film industry has faced over the past year and a half to bring some incredible projects to your screen. From big-brand commercials and creative music videos to major motion pictures like Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the Summer Games, and riding dragons in House of the Dragon Season 2, there’s so much to unpack. As a last-minute treat, we’ve put together a showreel to cap off the year. Enjoy!
A Summer of Sports
This year, MRMC Broadcast had a big year for sports. From supporting Nine Network and AE Live’s remote production at the Paris Summer Games with the StudioBot XL to returning to this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed with Gravity Media, we had a busy summer! MRMC’s Robotics AFC 180+ and the PTA-2 were also used for motorsports and darts production, showcasing the various possibilities and redefining speed & production in broadcast technology. We can’t wait to see what 2025 has in store for us!
Welcome to MRMC Academy
In August, we launched a brand-new web series, MRMC Academy, hosted by fellow moco community member Ben Meyers. This series aims to guide viewers step-by-step from the fundamentals of motion control to more advanced techniques down the line. Ben’s passion, deep expertise in motion control, and infectious energy shine through in every episode. If you haven’t already, be sure to catch up on the seven episodes released so far, including the latest instalment, “Creating Precision Paths With Motion Control.”
The New Orion Slider
This year, we unveiled the ORION Slider, Slidekamera by MRMC’s latest solution, designed for creators. It offers a perfect blend of portability, stability, and precision, making it an essential tool for capturing professional-quality shots wherever your production takes you.
Advanced Motion Control Training Summit 2024
This year saw the second edition of our largest community event yet—the Motion Control Advanced Training Summit—and it was even bigger and better than before! Motion control operators from around the globe flew to The Garage in NYC for an intensive two-day training course, learning trade secrets from some of the world’s top experts. This year featured even more key speakers, each specializing in unique areas of motion control, along with a record number of attendees and plenty of food, drinks, and music. We can’t wait to do it all again in 2025!
Exciting Case Studies
At MRMC, we take pride in showcasing how our clients use our robotic systems worldwide for diverse creative projects. This year, we released many exciting case studies across film, commercial and broadcast projects.
We released our first-ever Cinebot Mini and Cinebot Max case studies for McCafé, Villaggio and The PFL, as well as some incredible high-speed projects with the Bolt, including sequences for Spider-Man: No Way Home and the dynamic fighting concept Shugyō.
For broadcast, we took remote production to new levels with Nine Network and AE Live at the Paris Summer Games using a StudioBot XL. Additionally, Prestonwood Baptist Church pushed boundaries with its new installation using 15 MRMC robots in its upgraded installation for its broadcast service.
And finally, our first-ever Slidekamera by MRMC case study with director Vesley Marek highlight the use of the ATLAS MOCO Set for the music video ‘Reunite’, which also went on to feature at the 2024 Newport Beach Film Festival. Stay tuned for more exciting case studies in 2025.
Robotface Partnership
At the start of the year, we challenged Robotface, one of the first clients to receive a Cinebot Mini, to explore seven unique use cases that would push the boundaries of motion control. They truly rose to the occasion, showcasing the versatility of our smallest and most portable Cinebot in both on-set and off-set applications. To dive deeper into these projects, be sure to check out our blog here!
A Year of Trade Shows
2024 was a whirlwind year for trade shows, with our Film & Commercial team attending an impressive eight events worldwide. Our Broadcast team attended six tradeshows and the Slidekamera by MRMC team also attended five events this year, making it a busy year full of events across the globe!
From the Saudi Film Confex in the Middle East and Interbee in Japan to NAB in Las Vegas and MPTS in the UK, we were constantly on the move. It was inspiring to see the growing global interest in motion control and the exciting developments in the film industry. We feel incredibly fortunate to showcase our latest technologies on such a big stage. With even more events on the horizon, we look forward to meeting you next year at a tradeshow near you!
